Oakview Elementary Presentation

On April 30th Jesse DelBono and Evan Simpson visited Oakview Elementary School to give a presentation to on climate change and renewable energy. The presentation was cut short by a fire drill, but was picked up without a hitch the following week on May 7th. The second part of the presentation was hands-on and allowed all fifty students to create a large circuit of solar panels and motors. The students worked together and were able to get all of the motors to work simultaneously on their first attempt.

Orangevale Open Presentation

On the sunny day of May 20th, Club RESCUE put on another presentation, this time at Orangevale Open K-8, to a smaller group of about 25 students. The children were much involved with both the discussion and hands-on portions, and learned about all the different applications for sources of renewable energy.

Twin Lakes Presentation

On May 30th, our presentation group went to Twin Lakes Elementary school, this time with 4 club members, as this was our largest group yet. Once again the children were very engaged in the discussion and had many intelligent questions to further explore the subjects.
During the hands-on portion of our visit, the students explored new areas with the circuits, adding multiple solar cells to a single motor, and multiple motors to a single solar cell. In this they discovered the limits of the circuits they were creating, all while having fun!
